Crabbing in Solomon

October 13-16, 2012 Saturday - Tuesday

This week has been a blur...still in Solomon's, MD.  We took a county bus over the Patuxent River to the shopping district.  The bus was filled with "cruisers" with the same idea.  We all returned on the same last bus with bags of "stuff".  Terry needed some "warm" clothes.  He refused to pack any when we departed on this adventure.  Hopefully he won't need them for long.
What do you do in Maryland while stuck in port?????  Crabbing!  Tutty, S/V "Mistress" gave us "lessons".  We needed chicken necks for bait, string and pin to hold the bait and a crab net.  Muriel suggested a contest who could catch the most and biggest, then indulge them for dinner.  This was so easy.  With just 3 strings in the water we caught 14 crabs,  Suzanne caught 8, Tutty 2, 4 got away before we figured out how to net them.  We had so much fun!  We steamed  them in beer on the grill, and had a delicious, free crab dinner.
There is a favorable forecast for tomorrow, Wednesday, to continue our trip south.

Hardest part, moving them from bucket to pot without getting bit

Trying to get these little buggers from bucket to pot, no so easy, they didn't want to go there, we gave up trying to put them in 2 pots and just dumped them all in one.
