It was like the I-75 of the cruising world. A lot of cruisers had been "held" up for the week, and finally, today the Bay ( Chesapeake) was going to be user friendly. We departed Solomons, MD at 0725 hrs (Sunrise), and everyone else shoved off within a half hour of each other as well. Sailboats and motorboats everywhere were heading south.
There was a lot of "chatter" on the VHF radio. This offers great entertainment. We liken it to a "party line" on the phone, everyone monitors Channel 16, mariner requirement, and as they call out to another vessel, they then switch to another channel, to keep "16' open. We always "follow" the conversations for fun and so does everyone else. It is also a way to "catch up" with sailors we have met along the way and they with us. Terry likes to think of this "flock" as a neighborhood that's constantly moving (on water)..."Water World".
We moved South into Virginia waters (Terry's birth state) and saw our first pelican. We threw a hook out in Sandy Point just inside Great Wicomico River, Reedville, VA.
